Overview

The Emoto Jepara residence announces itself with color. Situated on a quiet suburban street in Jepara, flanked by lush tropical palms and mature garden greenery, this single story bungalow takes a clear and confident stance: personality is not optional, it is the foundation of the entire design. The flat roofed form that spreads horizontally across the lot is a deliberate compositional choice, one that lets the facade do all the communicating without reaching for vertical drama. What speaks here is color, rhythm, and the clarity of a design that knows exactly who it dresses.

The palette is the defining act of the project. Pure white plaster forms the structural backbone, coating the main volumes, parapets, columns, and canopy edges in a crisp, luminous base. Against this white canvas, panels of deep violet erupt across the facade in bold rectangular fields, placed above the carport, framing the entrance zone, and wrapping window perimeters and column borders throughout the front elevation. This is not an accent color used sparingly; it is a statement color used with full conviction. Natural stone cladding in a beige limestone texture appears beside the main entrance door, introducing a tactile counterpoint that grounds the more vibrant tones. Warm wooden slat ceilings line the underside of both the carport and the covered teras, their warm brown tones providing organic warmth that brings the boldness into balance. Grey granite floor tiles on the elevated teras and a terracotta deck on the accessible flat rooftop complete a palette that is rich, intentional, and consistent.

The spatial organization of the facade rewards closer reading. The carport sits at the left, sheltered beneath a generous flat canopy with recessed ceiling downlights. Dark vertical fin louvers at the boundary between carport and teras create a visual screen that filters views and promotes cross ventilation through the facade, a quietly intelligent tropical design gesture. The covered teras sits at an elevated level reached via stone steps, with white lounge chairs positioned against the vibrant purple backdrop for a relaxed outdoor sitting experience. The main entrance is a tall, clean white double door set within a natural stone accent wall, giving the threshold a composed and ceremonial quality that matches the boldness of the overall palette.

The garden is not incidental to the design. A mature frangipani tree grows directly within the teras courtyard, its sculptural bare branches arching against the purple wall in a composition that feels entirely deliberate. Lavender ground cover plantings line the garden beds along the facade, a choice that resonates beautifully with the violet color scheme of the house itself, as though the landscape has taken its cue from the architecture. Large taro leaf plants at the side wing add a bold tropical layering to the garden that reinforces the house's connection to its Jepara setting.

From above, the rooftop terrace reveals the full generosity of the single story footprint. A wide flat deck surfaced in warm terracotta tiles stretches across the main volume, creating an elevated outdoor space that captures the Jepara breeze and offers views over the surrounding canopy of palms. This rooftop is the quiet luxury of the project, a private retreat above the street and above the daily routine, open to the tropical sky. Emoto Jepara is ultimately a home that wears its character proudly: approachable enough for family life, distinctive enough to be remembered, and thoughtful enough to deliver genuine livability within every square metre of its compelling single story form.
